Oh sweet god make it stop

Remember that post yesterday about how the Senators should come up with their own traditions?

Yeah, turns out I was wrong. The Ottawa Senators should never, ever try to be creative. Never.

This is from last night.

I can't figure out what I like best:

  • The "WTF" look on the players' faces at the very beginning
  • The way his mic keeps cutting out
  • His helmet almost falling off a minute in
  • The Penguins/refs coming out towards the end, causing the crowd to boo right when he's hitting the "rise up" climax
  • His speech being taped to the inside of his shield
I take it all back, Ottawa. You go ahead and steal whatever you need to steal. Let's never speak of this again.

  3. Amazing... I read Ken Warren's "review", but this has to be seen to be fully appreciated. At one point it sounds like people were laughing. Reminded me of Monty Python. Also liked Warren counting Crosby's "mind wandering" and Malkin spitting blood as "small victories" for the Sens. So the series stands- 3 acual victories for the Penguins, to 2 "small victories" for Ottawa. Nice.

  4. I thought Anne Murray singing at the Leafs final game at MLG was lame, but this takes things to a whole new low...

  6. I'm pretty sure it was foreshadowing that the guy was waving around a replica of the Spartan's shields from 300... yanno... from the battle of Thermopylae where all 300 Spartans are killed by overwhelming armies from Pittsburgh... I mean Persia.

  7. When I find my eludium q-36, I'm charhing up my space modulator and then you'll rue the day you mocked Marvin the Martian!!!!

Seriously the Sen's PR person must be some exec's GF or hapless nephew.

  8. Am I the only one who had trouble understanding him? or was that the mic cutting out?

  9. His mic was cutting out the whole way, which only made it better. He'd be saying things like "We must never surrender", except the mic would cut out at "never".

  10. I'm sorry, I take it all back... every Sen's player earned their paycheck for this game for having to stand there and witness this. They'll need the money for counselling, and failing that, booze and a revolver.
