Grantland: A look back at the first round

The first round of the NHL playoffs isn’t over quite yet, thanks to a pair of Game 7s tonight. But since one of those games involves the Toronto Maple Leafs, I’ll be completely incapable of even basic human function all day long so we better just go ahead and do this now.

Let’s take a look back at the past two weeks of action, and hand out a few awards to the best and worst of (almost) the entire first round.

  2. At the end of regulation, I had this thought = at least it doesn't matter if Sean didn't follow his mom's advice to wear clean underwear today. Ugh. Go Leafs.

  3. I'm sorry, Sean. Being a Caps fan last night was disappointing (as usual) but I thought of you when I saw the final score in the Leafs game. I was really hoping the Leafs would move on, more for their fans' sakes, to be honest. Sorry. :(

  4. If there was ever an article in need of a re-write or an addendum, it might be this one.

Hopefully Sean can find a way to recover and write something today about that insane game last night.

  5. Maple Leaf fans today need to adopt fully the attitude of Chicago Cub fans. As the late great Mike Royko said -
"I always believed that being a Cubs fan built strong character. It taught a person that if you try hard enough and long enough, you'll still lose. And that's the story of life."
