In the latest (and last?) Friday Grab Bag:
- One simple trick for enjoying Gary Bettman sound bites
- The NBA offseason is just way more fun that's the NHL's, and that's OK
- An obscure player with a two-pack-a-day habit who confused Bob McKenzie
- The week's three comedy stars
- And a week after basking in how wonderful Alexei Kovalev could be, we take a look at the other side of the coin.

In other news: As you may have heard, Vice Sports is apparently shutting down and/or pivoting to video and/or something. Right now, I don't know what this means for the future of the Grab Bag, the Biscuits podcast, the Lozo mailbags or anything else I was doing with Vice (although I think we can probably guess). All I can say right now is that you'll know when I do.
Damn man, first Grantland, now Vice. Is reading dead? The last thing most people want is more videos injected into their face.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't find some place to pick up your columns in place of Vice, maybe consider opening up a Patreon. You are quite possibly the only writer/media-creator I'd cough up monthly dollars to keep reading.
Thanks Dave. I've always doubted that I could get a Pateon model to work -- still do -- but not ruling anything out.
DeleteI'd like to second everything that Dave said. I'll never watch some stupid video, but I'll keep reading as long as you keep writing.
ReplyDeleteShit, man. Sorry to hear it. But I'll keep reading, wherever your writing ends up. And, like Dave and CD, I'd make a Patreon donation.

ReplyDeleteI hope another venue opens for your works. Love Grab Bag, Biscuits, etc. You're one of my few must reads and recommends. Please land safe so you can keep us entertained.

ReplyDeleteLove your stuff, and like those above I'd gladly pay via Patreon. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the future at Vice is unclear. Please keep up writing in some form somewhere. It is some of the best stuff on the Internet. Your books were good value for money too, so even behind a paywall would be worth it.
ReplyDeleteNoooooo! You're the best! You'll always find a place, keep us informed!
